얀 브뢰헬 2세

브뢰헬은 한글로는 브뤼헐, 로마 알파벳으로는 Brueghel, Bruegel, Breughel 등으로 표현하기도 합니다. 

얀 브뢰헬 2세는 플랑드르 바로크(Flemish Baroque) 화가로 대 얀 브뢰헬(Jan Brueghel the Elder, 1568-1625)의 아들입니다. 할아버지는 피터르 브뤼헐(Pieter Bruegel the Elder, c. 1525-1569)의 손자이기도 하니, 3대가 유명한 화가인 집안입니다.

Brueghel이라고 작품에 서명을 하다가 아버지가 사망하고 나서 Breughel로 서명을 바꾸었다고 합니다.

풍경화로 유명한데, 혼자 완성한 작품들도 있고, 다른 작가들과 협업하여 완성한 작품들도 있습니다.

마르다와 마리아의 집에 있는 그리스도(Christ in the House of Martha and Mary)는 루벤스(Peter Paul Rubens)와 협업으로 완성한 작품이라고 합니다.
