“Self-Portrait before a Painting of ‘Amor Fedele’” is a painting by the Italian Baroque artist Giovanni Francesco Barbieri, known as Guercino. Created in 1655, this artwork is an oil on canvas and measures approximately 116 x 95.6 cm.

In this self-portrait, Guercino depicts himself standing in front of an easel holding a painter’s palette and brushes. The painting on the easel, titled “Amor Fedele” (Faithful Love), features a small, nude boy with a bow and quiver of arrows, accompanied by a slender dog. The boy is shown hooking a finger into the dog’s collar, and a stone slab with a snake swallowing its tail is visible near their feet.
