When parts of the sky god Uranus fell into the sea, they created a bubbly, white sea foam. Out of this foam popped Aphrodite, fully grown and looking absolutely flawless. In fact, her name literally means "foam-born" in ancient Greek. How cool is that?

Her love life? Oh, it's the juiciest drama in all of mythology! Zeus was so worried that all the gods would fight over her gorgeous looks that he forced her to marry Hephaestus, the not-so-handsome god of the forge. But you can't lock up the goddess of love! She fell head over heels for Ares, the tough and macho god of war. Together, they had a secret, passionate romance and even had cute little babies, including Eros—the famous Cupid with the love arrows!

Did you know she also practically started the legendary Trojan War? It all started with a shiny Golden Apple that said "To the fairest." Aphrodite, Hera, and Athena all wanted it.
