뉴올리언스 미술관

New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA)

뉴올리언스 미술관(New Orleans Museum of Art)은 줄여서 NOMA라고 불립니다. 뉴올리언스에서 가장 오래된 미술관으로  독지가이자 예술품 수집가였던 이삭 델가도(Isaac Delgado)의 뜻에 따라 1911년 12월에 문을 열었다고 합니다. 미술관 이름도 델가도 미술관(Delgado Museum of Art)이었습니다. 하지만, 델기도는 건강 이슈로 미술관 개관할 때 참석하지 못했고, 한달 뒤에 세상을 뜨게 됩니다.

미술관은 건물 뒤로 조각공원인 Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden을 포함하고 있습니다.

미술관은 4만점이 넘는 작품을 소장하고 있는데, 에드가 드가(Edgar Degas, 1834-1917), 클로드 모네(Oscar-Claude Monet, 1840-1926), 오귀스트 르누아르(Pierre-Auguste Renoir, 1841-1919), 파블로 피카소(Pablo Picasso, 1881-1973), 카미유 피사로(Camille Pissarro, 1830-1903), 오귀스트 로댕(Auguste Rodin 1840-1917), 조르주 브라크(Georges Braque, 1882-1963), 라울 뒤피(Raoul Dufy, 1877-1953), 호안 미로(Joan Miró, 1893-1983), 잭슨 폴록(Jackson Pollock, 1912-1956), 메리 카사트(Mary Cassatt, 1845-1926),  조지아 오키프(Georgia O'Keeffe, 1887-1986) 등 유명작가들의  작품이 있습니다.

그 외에도 루이지애나 및 다른 미국 작가들의 작품도 전시하고 있습니다.
