메트로폴리탄미술관

메크로폴리탄미술관은 구어체에서는 흔히 줄여서 "the Met"이라고 합니다. 워낙 유명한 미술관이다 보니 설명하는게 오히려 어색한 미술관 중 하나이죠.

미술관은 미국 국민들의 예술교육을 위해 1870년 설립되었으며, 미국 뿐만 아니라 서반구(Western Hemisphere)에서 가장 큰 미술관으로 소장하고 있는 작품이 2백만 점이 넘는다고 합니다. 워낙 많다 보니 다양한 시대, 다양한 지역의 작품들이 있습니다.
