Castile

카스티야

스페인 중부의 지방. '성(城, castillo, castles)의 땅[land of castles]'이라는 의미로 9세기 초에 지명으로서 등장.

중세에는 카스티야 왕국(Kingdom of Castile)의 영토였으나, 현재에는 명확한 경계는 없으며, 카스티야라만차(Castilla–La Mancha), 카스티야이레온(Castile and León), 마드리드(Madrid) 등의 자치지방(autonomous community)으로 나뉨.
