줄여서 FAMSF라고도 부르는 샌프란시스코 미술관은 샌프란시스코에서 가장 큰 공공예술기관(public arts institution)으로 골든게이트 공원(Golden Gate Park)에 있는 드 영 미술관(de Young Museum)과 링컨 공원(Lincoln Park)에 있는 리전 오브 아너(Legion of Honor), 두 개의 미술관으로 구성되어 있습니다.

드 영 미술관은 1895년 개관하였으며, 2012년 기준 155만명이 방문해서 미국에서 6번째, 세계적으로는 35번째로 많은 관람객이 찾았습니다. 17세기에서 21세기에 걸친 미국 작품 등이 주로 전시되어 있습니다.

리전 오브 아너는 1924년 개관하였으며, 고대유물과 유럽 작품들을 주로 전시하고 있습니다.

온타리오 미술관

줄여서 AGO라고 부르는 온타리오 미술관은 캐나다 토론토에 위치하고 있습니다. 45천 제곱미터의 면적의 공간에, 소장품이 98천여점이 넘는 북미 최대 미술관 중 하나입니다.

1900년에 토론토 미술관(Art Museum of Toronto)으로 출범하였으며, 공식적으로는 1903년 설립되었습니다. 이후 1919년에 Art Gallery of Toronto, 1966년에 온타리오 미술관(Art Gallery of Ontario)으로 이름이 바뀌었습니다.

설립 이후 꾸준히 확장과 리노베이션이 있었습니다. 최근에는 2004년에서 2008년까지 프랑크 게리(Frank Gehry)에 의한 확장이 있었고, 2010년 대에도 KPMB와 Hariri Pontarini Archiexpan에 의한 리노베이션이 있었습니다.

98,000여점에 달하는 소장품은 20세기 후반과 21세기 초반에 크게 증가했습니다. 1960년 3,400여점에서 1985년 10,700여점으로 증기하였으며, 2018년에 98,000점을 넘어섭니다.

작품들은 시기적으로는 1세기부터 현재까지, 지역적으로는 캐나다(Canada), 캐나다 원주민(First Nations), 이뉴잇족(Inuit), 아프리카(Africa), 유럽(Europe), 오세아니아(Oceania) 등 다양합니다.
